Loss of Separation at Nice Airport

A safety incident occurred late on Sunday night at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. The separation between an easyJet Airbus A320 waiting for takeoff and a Nouvelair Airbus A320 on final approach fell below the minimum required distance.

Reports indicate that the distance between the two aircraft was reduced to approximately three meters. The landing aircraft’s pilot performed a go-around maneuver as per procedure and initiated a climb.

Passengers on board the easyJet flight were disembarked in accordance with safety procedures, and the flight was canceled.

The French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) has launched an official investigation into the incident. Preliminary assessments suggest that meteorological conditions may have limited visibility and contributed to the situation.
